Discover the unmatched advantage of Dry Ice Blasting.

What is dry ice blasting?

Dry Ice Blasting, also known as Dry Ice Cleaning, is a cutting edge, environmentally sustainable cleaning and surface preparation technique. Our machines use dry ice made from recycled CO2 to produce dry ice pellets. Our equipment then breaks the dry ice pellets down into diamond shaped microparticles. When applied, these microparticles freeze and effectively break the bond between corrosion/contaminates and the surface of the object, without damaging the substrate.

How it Works

Cold Jet Aero 2 PCS60 Dry Ice Cleaning Equipment for Environmentally Safe Industrial Cleaning, Corrosion Removal and Restoration

Equipment

FinRae utilizes the Cold Jet - Aero2 PCS 60, a revolutionary state-of-the-art particle control system offering unparalleled capabilities such as air pressure control, ice flow control, and ice practical adjustment sizing. This unit allows for the fine-tuning of ice particles ranging from 3mm (a grain of rice) to 0.3mm (a fine dust) and every size in between, providing a broad level of sensitivity for each unique application. Our specialized applicators cover both heavy-duty and precision cleaning needs. Paired with a high-efficiency industrial air compressor with enhanced features like water separation, and after coolers, our setup ensures efficient and quiet operations at 80 dBA or below.

Impact and Sublimation

Accelerated by compressed air through specially designed nozzles at supersonic speeds, the diamond shaped dry ice microparticles carry a tremendous amount of kinetic energy, sublimating upon impact, volumetrically expanding in size, removing the contaminate and rapidly transforming back into CO2 gas. The micro explosions on the surface effectively lift away dirt, grime, grease and other corrosion, leaving no secondary residue or waste.

Cleaning Effect

The low temperature of the dry ice (-109 f/ -78.5 c) creates a thermal effect upon impact, causing any corrosion or contaminant to embrittle. This helps break the bond between the substrate and the contaminant. The kinetic energy from the high-velocity dry ice microparticles, combined with the thermal effect of sublimation, delivers a thorough and non-abrasive cleaning to the surface. This makes dry ice blasting a great choice for delicate surfaces that could be damaged by traditional abrasive cleaning methods.

Dry ice cleaning is environmentally safe

No Residue or Secondary Waste

A significant advantage of Dry Ice Blasting is that it generates no secondary waste or chemical residues. Since dry ice is produced from recycled CO2, when it reverts to a gaseous state, it does not contribute additional CO2 to the atmosphere. The cleanup is minimal, involving only the removal of dislodged contaminants.
